With my IKEA experience, I FEARED opening the box and building this bed. But it was EASY and fast, which was really great. My 5 year old son was able to screw in the 6 big screws holding the frame, and that was that. I did not have to spend hours putting the bed slates together, they are already tied together, you just unfold them and screw them to the side of the frame with 6 screws and it is done. PERFECT. I wish IKEA would be so simple. One concern: the bed slates I chose were soft, curved ones that give spring to the mattress. That is good, but for me that makes the bed too soft. That was solved by sliding a piece of cardboard box from the packaging between the mattress and the slates.
